What We Believe
By blending traditions of the past with the opportunities of the future, the congregation of First Presbyterian Church strives to grow our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior with our congregation, our neighborhood, and our community.
Our Beliefs:
First, we are unswerving to God’s inerrant and infallible word, the Bible, as the final authority for faith and life. We view faithful preaching of God’s Word as essential growth in the Christian life.
—We believe that there is only one living and true God who has revealed himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
—We believe that men and women were created in the image of God, but fell into sin through disobedience and as a result of this fall, all people are born sinners and in need of salvation.
—We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human and that He saves His people from their sin by His life, death, and resurrection.
—We believe that God by His grace alone is calling people from the whole human race to believe in his Son, Jesus Christ.
—We believe that Christ is ruling now, and forevermore, over the Church and the world through His Word and Spirit. He will return to judge the living and the dead and to renew all of creation.
In our everyday lives, we are encouraged not only to hear Jesus’ words, but to strive to seek to integrate faith and service to respond to human need and growth of the church while witnessing to God’s love.
Six Great Ends of the Church

- The shelter, nurture, and spiritual fellowship of the children of God
- The maintenance of divine worship
- The preservation of the truth
- The promotion of social righteousness
